Greetings.
We just loaded RH 6.0 on an IBM 560e with 48Mb RAM. We made a 65 Mb
FAT partition for the hibernate file created by PS2.exe. After all was
installed, it won't boot. Physically.
The first few attempts, it looked like it was going to boot, then
switched to the white hibernate screen, saved to disk, and powers off. It's
not suspended, either. No keystroke will wake it up except the power
button. It would enter a halted CMOS setup screen by holding down the F1
key on power-up.
It would *only* boot from a BIOS upgrade boot diskette. Hence,
thinking we could overwrite the BIOS and all would return to normal, we
upgraded to ver. 10/99. Once upgraded and rebooted, the same sort of thing
happens, except it doesn't enter hibernate anymore; it starts to boot,
screen flashes, a reboot, then it automatically enters the CMOS setup with a
boot error code for "Hibernate file too small". IBM was no help. Their
help pages advise to remove the hibernate file. I'd love to, but I can't
even get a command line.
This post is two-fold: I'm pleading for help and cautioning others
on the use of hibernate. I've read all the manuals and help pages and I
still don't know what I did to cause this.

Regards,
-tom
