I got a Wacom Intuos tablet over the holidays - it's dreamy... you'll probably need to recompile gtk+ and enable Xinput support to get pressure sensitivity working in the gimp, and I think you need a development version of the gimp as well (but I'm not positive on that one - there may be a patch to the stable version if you prefer that route) - I'm using 1.1.15 and I haven't had any problems as of yet - YMMV, of course.
