This is a known bug in the acer bios. It's solved in 2.3.X kernels. Some time ago the pacth to apply to the kernel was published in this ml. You can find it at http://www.mfn.unipmn.it/~sitta/linux503.html. To solve partially the problem you can type at the boot time linux apn=off This disable the apm. Ciao Mei
