Andy,
I have a Tecra 8000 and tried to install RH6.2 on it and it locked up during
the install. This is kind of a bummer because I was always kind of partial
to Redhat. Anyway, I downloaded the latest corel linux and installed it and
it works really well. It recognized the video and even the USB port. I
haven't got the sound working yet. The card I'm using is a Xircom Realport
10/100. The 7XX Tecras worked really well with RH but the 8000 hates it.
Good luck.

Subject: please help - redhat on tecra
Can any of you guys help please?
I trying to install redhat 6.1 on a Toshiba Tecra 8000.
Problems I'm having.
1. Won't recognise the network card
3Com Megahertz 3CCE589EC
2. Sometimes after booting but before can log in the
keyboard locks up (I don't boot straight into running X).
(IRQ conflict?)
3. When I do boot and get logged in the machine does a
disk write every 5 seconds or so. This is worse when
running X. Is this something to do with the way my particular
drive buffers data so that a sync always causes immediate
physical write because I have not had the problem on another
laptop I ran linux with. I've tried using
"update -f 300" in /etc/inittab to change the interval to longer
but this has no effect on the problem.
All advice welcome
Thankyou
Andy
