Maybe this is due to problems with the way redhat does
pcmcia probing. At least, there was a problem with
my satellite 2520 - and this is similar to the tecra model.
In this case you have to prevent linux from doing the
pcmcia probe; after performing the whole boot up,
you have to change /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia.
