Your other choice might be to go with a PCMCIA SCSI card, and a small external
disk drive; this also allows you to attach a SCSI cdr/cdrw, and a variety of
other goodies such as Jazz drives and so on.
I do have a PCMCIA SCSI card, bought recently, works very well with Windows and
not had a chance to try with Linux yet; it's a New Media Bus Toaster, which is
supposed to work, but there are reports of it not being trivial:

Or, there's firewire. Or Compact Flash (now available in up to 320MB I hear).
