I have installed RedHat 6.1 on a Gateway Solo 5100. I
have to boot up in single-user mode because normal
boot hangs when the pcmcia modules try to load. I run
'probe' and it finds my pcmcia controller without any
trouble. I went to the laptop web-page at linux.org
and tried their suggestions for work-arounds,
specifically, I tried two ...
PCIC_OPTS="irq_list=5,9,10", and
PCIC_OPTS="do_scan=0". Also, this laptop is a
win95/linux dual-boot system. Now whats mind-boggling
is that when I first installed RH, everything worked.
I did not change anything on the linux system. I then
booted up in Win95 and worked out some issues
regarding the socket services and loaded some pcmcia
drivers. Once I had win95 straightened out I booted up
in linux and the ran into the problem described above.
Could the things I do in Win95 affect the hardware? I
appreciate any help. Thanx.
