I am sure you mean ALSA and not BALSA. I am using ALSA drivers for
many different soundcards, and it works great on all of them. You can
even run into soundcads which are supported by ALSA and not OSS.

Go to http://www.alsa-project.org/

I am sure there must be some reason for the widespread ignorance of
ALSA, especially the complete lack of ALSA support in RedHat, and the
reason for the duplicate effort to produce new OSS drivers for
soundcards which already has fully working ALSA drivers. Is there a
special reason for the top kernel developers to keep a general dislike
for ALSA ? I am simply puzled...
