Checking broken links is easy to automate, so don't worry too much about that. The harder problem I wanted to address was that of long-unmaintained repositories that aren't marked as obsolete on our site. I'm undecided as to whether to remove them altogether, move them to a "historical" section, or something else. Trying to reach maintainers of each repository to check whether they just dropped it, or passed them on to someone else who hosts it elsewhere, that sort of thing. It sure is more work than running a broken-link-checking spider, but I guess it will have a more positive effect, overall, to visitors of our site.
