My 17 year old VARstation is dying, to be replaced, someday, with a nice Whisperstation from Microway. In the meantime, I was hoping I could go to some small set of stores and grab a laptop and a Linux distro and keep things going until I figure out just what I want from Microway.
I thought Fry's might be a starting point, but the phone geek said they have no Linux distros whatsoever, so that probably saves me a drive to Renton. I'd rather drive to Bellingham anyway, if that would help. Does anyone have any suggestions where one might obtain a Linux-compatible laptop, and a distro to install in it. I don't have bandwidth here to download much of anything, though I guess I could load up a thumb drive at the library if necessary. TIA, Jim Camano Island, WA
