If you'll type only 'My' and than the <TAB> you'll see that a '\'
(backslash) is added in the space between the words (that for "escape"
the space ). So again, cd My\ Documents. Hopped it helped.

Nah, php doesn't need the extra level of redirection which
is ODBC (good or bad depending on your point of view) and
the user interface and automation potential is nicer with
a webserver based method. There's no cumbersome sql data
collection applet to deal with either. Although the one
in StarOffice might be decent. The one in office97 rather
blows.
Although, the graphics/graphing support in stock php is
currently rather crude. For more involved graphs a
spreadsheet like SO5 with odbc support would be a better
option.

I don't understand your question... :(
Is it a problem that you don't have '~/.bash_profile' ?
Do you think that it's erased somehow ??
After new install you have to create it yourself...

Open source is a pretty broad meaning because of the multiple licenses
available. The biggest that I know of are the gpl, the lgpl, the berkley
style, and the artistic. The gpl (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.txt)
as I understand it says, if you use any gpl code, then you
have to release your code gpl. For instance, you cant take the linux
kernel, modify it, and release it under a diff license. The lgpl
(http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/lgpl.txt) generally covers libraries etc,
meaning you can link against them and still have closed source software.
The bsd license (http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/license.html for one
example) says that you can distribute and sell the software binary only,
but you have to give them credit for the parts you used. Unfortunately I
dont know anything about the artistic license, but if you search for it
at google or someplace you will find it. Let me reiterate that this is
just how I remember interpreting them, I havent read them in a while, so
you should definately have your legal dept. or whoever read them over
first, and not rely on me (as if you would =)

I assume your using the svga version (console, not X) The reason your
getting that is because you dont have the rights to access the hardware
directly as a normal user, but you do as root. You have a couple
options, you can A. setuid the koules binary, but thats a security risk
, or you could B. get Xkoules which doesnt require priveledges to run,
but it runs in X so it uses more resources etc, Or C. just run it as
root which if your going to do that you might as well setuid the
binary.(chmod +s /path/to/koules)

I was getting this error, and I assumed it was due to bad ram. But on a
hunch one day, I upped my CPU voltage from 2.2V to 2.3V. Now the kernel
compiles first time everytime. Give it a go.

Hi,
since using netscape-communicator 4.5 (now 4.61) I have problems with
the address book. When composing a new email and opening the
address-book to get an email-address, netscape crashes when clicking on
the "To:" button in the address-book.
What's the problem? I even created a new address book from the scratch
with the actual netscape version. But the problem didn't solve.

The mentioned Proof-Carrying-Code (Necula, Lee) papers are talking about
checking _machine code_ safety. Experience says that the size of the proof is
within an order of magnitude in comparison to the size of the code itself.
And the checking of the proof - for small programs - takes tens of
milliseconds of time.
One application of it is, of course safe extension of a kernel, but another
one is the safe extension of a compiler.

Once this question was put to Mads Tofte, and he stated that the theory of
region analysis depends on the call-by-value nature of ML.

recorded anywhere. We want to be able to produce a monthly report which

records the number of minutes, which is a bit too imprecise for our purposes.

I assume you mean take a screen shot, if so you can use xv, or gimp
(both are usually installed by default). it writes the image to a file

Hi Melle
$HOME/.kde/share/config/kppprc.
In dieser Datei waren bei mir zwei Abschnitte
# KDE config file
name=
[Account0]
.
phonenumber=
.
.pppdTimeout=
[Account1]
.
phonenumber=123456
.
.pppdTimeout=30
Tschss Dirk

Common problem. To fix, add
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi
(and, if you have the 100dpi fonts)
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi
to the catalogue section of /etc/X11/fs/config
Then restart xfs with /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs restart

I certainly will. :)
99.8% availability is abominable, even for a single machine.
That means most of a full day of downtime per calendar year (0.73 days
to be precise), and this could be all at once or (more likely) spread
over time. *Planned* downtime in that quantity may not be bad, but
unplanned downtime in any amount is simply not acceptable to those who
need to use the system during that downtime.
A busy, important, commercial Web site should have no single point of
failure and hence no downtime at all, and therefore 100.0000%
availability. Unplanned downtime should be measured in parts per
million (i.e., seconds per year). All unplanned downtime, no matter
how slight, should be diagnosed, and those responsible for repeated
incidents of the same kind should be directed toward a more suitable
career, one in which they are not grossly incompetent.
Maybe Microsoft's customers, who tend to be technically illiterate
anyway, are wowed by these kinds of stats. Professional Webmasters
are not. They know that even PC-class hardware can easily achieve
orders of magnitude better performance than this, although Microsoft's
site is big enough that it should be using better than PC-class
harware and operating systems, and would be both more reliable and
more cost-effective if it did.

It's possible. You need the "tc" program from the iproute2 package

I had this problem while at U Sheffield. Prior to my arrival,
someone had tried to set up a linux box on their net and just
picked an IP number out of the air, which conflicted with
one somewhere in the US, causing the usual network problems.
On this basis UCS refused permision for me to run linux on
the uni network; despite the fact that the reason they knew
I wanted to was because I _asked_ them for the information
I needed to configure it for their network. I dont believe
they were MS fans, just thet they didn't want to deal with
yet another os (even though I wasn't asking them to).
