Hi,
I am looking for a Linux based utility that is able to "talk" to
VocalTec's IPhone (Internet Phone) 4/5 "windows based servers".
Basically I only need a voice communication, no video.
(I would like to talk to some "people" found in some IPhone chat rooms.)
Could someone, please, help me.
Thanks in advance,
Jacek.

Kernel 2.3.x should have 'PowerOff in Real Mode' feature. Try to compile it
with this options. Maybe it'll help ?

but it could be.

$ export PS1

now it its in the environment. however, even this will not keep
non-interactive bash invocations from nulling out their PS1.

I like tgif or gnuplot, depending on the source
of the input data.

Check freshmeat for tgif. Gnuplot should be
included in your dist.

Xfree86 3.3.6 supports the Rage128 line of cards, including the Xpert128.
However, the 2D support in XFree86 4.0 is much better, and if your card is
agp there is now a beta of the DRI available for 3D support for the card
(with PCI support coming soon).

Forget it! The linux AMIGA FFS does not work because it tries to mount
the
harddisk with the wrong geometry!

I found this when playing with the debug mode. It only worked for me
when I dumped
an image of a partition and mounted this image. Sorry can't tell more

it a long time ago...

If u're using redhat or redhat-like distribution, u can start linuxconf and
configure all file systems u have to be auto mounted, ... by mouse click in X-
Windows.
But as I think u can replace -in file /etc/fstab- nonaut by auto or something like
that, to be mounted and umounted by the system. Try to type "man fstab" in the
console.

Date: Mon, 17 Apr 2000 13:41:09 GMT

Hi,

First of all I'm totally new to Linux, so bear with me. I installed
Redhat 6.2 on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro 4260)
which has the S3 Inc. Savage/IX Display driver.

I installed GNOME, but I can't get any type of display. I looked at the
list of adapters during the install
but nothing worked correctly.

S3 doesn't have Linux drivers... those bastards.

With my limited knowledge, what else or where else can I go to get this
to work.

Linux seems sweet but man its a bit more diffucult to configure that
the other thing.

Thank you!!!

Take a look at the comments, alot of those gotos were actually
representative of ones that were removed.

And dont forget, seriously, gotos (though ragged and dirty) are very
fast. :)

Subject: Expect and auto ftping ??
Date: Mon, 17 Apr 2000 09:49:58 -0400

Hello,
i have a problem with the /usr/bin/ftp program.

I wanted it to log in to various servers and download files in the wee hours
of the morning, when most people are asleep. To this end i tried to use
expect . After messing around with it a little bit, I wrote a script that
expect the "ogin" and "assword" and all that.
Now when I run the script , it just sits there, after connecting to the
site.
It looked like it was not finding any of the matches.
So, I tried another approach: JAVA.
Usually, you can launch ( fork & exec ) a process and grab it's in- and
out- put streams , and control it just like from the keyboard.
Not this time!!
I got the streams alright, but there was nothing coming through!! As a
result, I couldn't read any of the responses, nor could I send it any
commands!!

My question is : What am I not doing right?

TIA

joseph

Then the money-per-info ratio is very bad I should say.

What do you mean? The manpage covers the zxvf (the most important) switches
of tar. The page has like 227 lines, an a good and short "Description"
section. Come on, when I started Linux I didn't have a book and I even could
*create* an archive with the help of the manpage. (My IQ is average I guess.)
As for how to use tar, command line programs (generally) follow the simple
structure:
command --switch1 --switch2 -abcdefg file.to.be.affected
That's all you need to know.

Interesting,
What is the rest of your system configuration? I thought I had the
problem licked, but it popped back up. Suddenly everything locked up
and I was stuck with nothing, completely out of the blue.
Perhaps it's my memory...
OH WAIT! Now I see, but I don't understand.
IRQ 11 is taken by my video and sound card.
This could be it, but how do I change it?

*ponder*
Help?
