Actually, it doesn't work that way. If you send mail to "bob" it's
going to be rewritten to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" -- that mail will then
typically be processed as outbound, i.e., sent off to the ISP. In my
experience, it will then only come back to the original machine from
which it was sent.

Very annoying. I wish I knew the answer to the question, I've been
trying to figure it out myself.

MH would rule except that its MIME support seriously reeks. I've kept

A wav file is basically the uncompressed cd-da image file,
contains the audio data bit-by-bit.
mp3 is a compressed format compressing as much as it can,
so I doubt that will have a higher fidelity.

However you can also "compress" wav files by reducing the sample
rate, and the bits/sample.
If you view it like this then mp3 gives you
much better quality than the same bitrate wav.

I use cdparanoia (http://www.xiph.org/paranoia/)

It rips cds and stores data in uncompressed format, so you
can create mp3-s with a separate tool afterwards.

Hello. I just logged out on tty1 but when tried to log in again I was
surprised to see that I cannot press some keys. Enter results in ^M,
^a in ^A, ^e in ^E, and ^u in ^U, all printed on the login prompt.
I get all those errors on tty1, but on tty4 only Enter doesn't work.
Is there any tool to correct this now, without a need to reboot?
I have tty2, tt3, tt5, and tty6 opened. BTW, I was running screen on
tty1 and had to do a reset because it was messing up the lines and
columns.

Thanks.

Your problem is almost certainly that you have no more free space on
your linux partition(s), and not anything password related. This is
especially suspect when you are downloading a full year's email. Run
"df -h" to see how much free space you have.

You can put the CD in a cdrom on a network machine, then share the drive.

I've installed Mandrake and Caldera like that. When choosing the source to
install from, select NFS.

You'll have to make the boot floppies though...

<Shut up!>

Unfortunately for all you Winvocates, it seems that even the red
underlining is not a Microsoft invention: the German company R.O.M
Logicware has been producing a Wordprocessor, "Papyrus", originally
for the Atari, but since 1994 also for OS/2 and now for Windows that
had red underlining years before Microsoft even thought about stealing
it.

They are at

http://www.rom-logicware.com/

You can download a trial version, but don't think your connection has
timed out. The WP is _really_ that small!

Hi
I have created a small linux site ( http://fr.ee/linux )
and I'm wondering, if anyone could visit it and then recommend some new
programs/games/links/...
I'd really apreciate it.

The abstract mentions nothing about that. This is the complete abstract
text:

"A method and device for converting movement of an optical mouse on a
surface having any random surface pattern of relatively light and dark areas
separated by edges to electrical signals representing a direction of motion
relative to two non-parallel axes. A plurality of prechargeable photon
sensors are disposed on the mouse in a row along each axis and facing the
surface periodically. The presence of an edge is periodically sensed in at
least one preselected portion of each row of sensors, defining a sensor
state for each axis for each period upon the sensing of an absence of an
edge. Successive sensor states are compared to determine if movement has
occurred relative to each axis and a signal representative of the movement
determined is produced. "

This is substantially different from the actual Patent which states this:

"The main object of the present invention is to provide an electro-optical
mouse which is pattern insensitive, i.e., can operate on virtually any
substantially planar imperfect surface, especially those having a random
surface pattern relatively light and dark areas separated by edges, for
example a wood grained surface or any surface that is not completely
monochromatic with no image imperfections thereon."

Note how the summary states "virtually any surface, especially those
having..." while the abstract states "movement of an optical mouse on a
surface having..."

To me, it seems that the abstract is grossly misleading about the nature of
the patent.

In any event, it seems that while the purpose of the device may be the same
or very similar to the Microsoft mouse, the MS mouse only appears to use one
sensor (at least that's all I can see), while this patent uses many sensors
(64 I believe).

it has 6.4 million sensors? How is that possible?
