You should be able to unmount it then use fdisk and change the type (not
the size) to a linux type 83 or 82 partition depending what you want to
use it for. Then format it to linux and then mount it. Edit
/etc/lilo.conf and /etc/fstab and then /sbin/lilo to update the MBR.
You shouldn't have any problems as long as you update the MBR after the
change.
