Hi,
I'm just doing some research on Macromedia FLASH ( swf );
1. What development tools are available for linux users?
2. What are the views on flash among linux users?
Any info, opinions, flames etc. related to flash are welcome
Best regards,
Thomas

Search for the 'ming' library on freshmeat.net.

That's right. When I was paying attention in my OS-classes (and I think
I did, I got an B- for it ;-)), a queueing algorithm IS a scheduler. The
scheduler decides which process is next to use the processor, and thus
it is making a queue.

Hi
I have set up IP masquerade on Red Hat Linux 7.

However I need to manually establish the ppp dial-up connection from the

I want the workstations to be able to launch that ppp connection

How do i do this setup?
Thanks

when not using the image, can you still mount /dev/hdb10 ?
if not, run the following script on /dev/hdb10 :

Greetings,
what is the tool of choice for cutting large chunks off a whooping big
.wav, *without* first rendering the entire file graphically? I just
want to retrieve the item I want from an hour-long unsupervised
recording. Is there a tool that will just let me say
$ wavcut -start 5m -stop 5m -o interesting.wav huge.wav
or should I write my own?

Or it could be that your tracks are smudged
by fingertips on the cd .
Did you see any "+" signs on cdparanoia when
it was doing the rippin ?
If , yes, then this is the most likely reason
for bad writing back to a cd-r.
Just my experience. could be something else.

first of all, thanx for the replies :) secondly, I had the idea of doing
what u said, and so I did ... but now I get a different error message, on
the same subject! here it is ...
checking for glib-config... /usr/local/bin/glib-config
checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.5...
*** 'glib-config --version' returned 1.2.9, but GLIB (1.2.8)

configure: error: Cannot find GLIB: Is glib-config in path?
I went and re-read the the glib INSTALL file and it said that before I
'make install', if I'm installing on top of an old glib install, I must
delete the files glib.o and gmodule.o from /usr/local/include directory. I
did that, re-ran the install procedure (even did a 'make clean' and deleted
config.cache to make sure) of glib, and I still got that error message! so
im really confused ... and i didnt want to go tamper with /etc/ld.so.conf
or the environment variables mentioned in the error message because I'm not
sure what they are used for ... maybe you can enlighten me on that too :)
thanx for the help

I believe that it's not /bin/bash in particular, but is instead the
default shell for your session that is used on scripts that do not
contain the #! line.
In other words, if you change your default shell to ksh, then it will
be ksh that will interpret the script by default. Likewise, if you
change to zsh, then zsh interprets the script.

Well, it seems like you're trying to burn a CD-R more than once. That's
not possible. You could make a multi-session CD-R but I wouldn't see the
point of it. Nevertheless no preemp and swab are not errors, just
information about the type of data you're dealing with (little endian
and no preemphasis). Why don't you try moving to the directory where you
have all your .wav files and then burn the CD-R with:
cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=0,0,0 -audio "track*.wav"
By the way, when if I want to make a 'backup' copy of my own CD Audio I
use the following to extract all tracks in raw format:
cdparanoia -B -p -d/dev/hdd 1-
I hope this helps.

Michael,
Thank you for your help.
I do have a dedicated server (www.compaqconfigurator.com). However, the news
conference doesn't have to be on our server. We have many customers who use
our software (commercial) and I would like for us to have a news server for
installation, known problems, wish list for new versions, etc.
We use the Cobalt Linux 6.0 Shinkansen-Decaf version.
I looked at the leafnode documentation, but am not sure if this is what we
are looking for.
Simply stated, I would like to start about 4 newgroups which could be
accessed by our customers.
(1. installation, 2. known problems, 3. wish list for new versions, 4. How
to do...)
I am willing to start them also on some other computer if it is too hard to
start them on our own.

I am also willing to pay something, since this is for our company.

Yeah, well. When you want to add some extra later, but I omitted the
-multi flag to cdrecord when I recorded track1, so...

Hmm, well yes, only the "track*.wav" didn't work, but an enumeration of
the .wav files did. Its burning now ;))
Too bad I have a single-session CD with just one track of 4 mins on it
now. But hey, there are worse things in the world (like Windows).

Every Linux distribution seems to potentially have its own variation
on this; I happen to rotate my logs using something called cfengine,
which definitely isn't "logrotate."
You may want to look in /usr/share/doc, and try to head to the
subdirectory named "logrotate" or "logrotate*" for further
documentation; that would be the canonical location to find more than
just man pages...
