I'm trying to run an old dos EGA graphics game in dosemu and when I try to
run it, it just sits there. I also noticed that my X server is unable to use
the energy star power off options for my monitor, so I thought maybe that
they both need to call the video bios to do this, which is not enabled on my
video card. Does dosemu implement the video bios routines by actually
mapping and calling your real video bios? If so, how can I enable mine? I
think I've figured out how to use setpci to assign the address for the
expansion rom on the device, and I assume it needs to be 0xC0000, but is
there anything else I need to do to safely assign this address to it, such as
telling the kernel to not use it for normal memory pages or anything?

BTW: I'm running 2.4.9 and have an ATI Xpert@Play video card. Note that
I've tried running dosemu with the 'dos' command from a console, as well as
running 'xdos' from in X. In X, the window size at least changes, and goes
blank, but nothing shows up. The game does seem to be running though,
because I can hit the escape key and it exits.

Also, another reason I might be having this problem is not enough
conventional memory, is there any way I can free up more memory? The game
says there is only 540k and it needs 575k. It also locks up if I try to do a
mem command.

I also tried to boot from a bootable dos floppy image but got a non system
disk error - does dosemu only run a special dos?
