I need to upgrade the 486sx25 that runs my wife's veterinary clinic and I am
debating what the best OS combination is to use. She currently uses
OS/2 warp 3 to run a copy of the custom DOS based DB program and provide file
and print services to another machine running MSDOS 6.x At home the custom DB
app runs fine under dosemu and MSDOS 6.x on rh5.1. The question is what
happens to MSDOS 6.x next year, and will problems with the DOS affect the DB
app and the emulator. I was plannig to replace the 486 that OS/2 is running on
and I am debating between a linux + dosemu solution vs another OS/2 setup.
BTW, the vendor claims that the DB app is y2k compliant.
