Any standard Linux installation, with dosemu( Normal dos emulator ) or
xdosemu( Dos emulator under X Windows ) would do the trick. To install these
you would basically need a standard dos boot disk.

Unlike normal dos systems, Linux has multitasking capabilities( like
WinNT-95 ), and can hence open multiple sessions/instances of the app( as
you can have multiple dos prompts ).

A WORD OF WARNING : Older dos bases DBMS solutions may not have the
capability to handle multiple open database sessions pointing to the same
database.

Subject: DOS Applications

I'm interest in running an MS DOS resident Data Base under Linux. We want
Linux becaus e we understand tha it's multiuser capabilities are superior to
LANs and NT type environments and less costly.

Can you tell me of anyone who is using Linux to run a DOS based relational
data base under Linux? Also, any publications or user groups available for
related applications?

Thanks,
