I have not been able to boot successfully to a WIN95 boot floppy using
dosemu as follows:
xdos -A
The dosemu window pops up but it is blank and never displays anything.
My terminal window displays:
kernel CPU speed is 463917406 Hz
Running on CPU=586, FPU=1
ERROR: X: Unable to open font "vga"ERROR: ,trying "vga"...
ERROR: X: Unable to open font "vga"ERROR: ,trying "9x15"...
The above display on the terminal window is identical to the display when I
run "xdos" successfully using the hdimage created when dosemu was installed
(when I installed RedHat 6.0 which installs dosemu 0.99).
I am doing this as a step to try to access a msdos partition on my scsi hard
disk since lredir is not available using freedos.
If I can boot to the floppy can I then make the hdimage bootable using
WIN95 dos? Or how can I make the msdos partition on the hard drive the boot
drive (it already has the system files installed) ?
I plan on running one dos application only in the partition, but it is a
disk intensive program with about 1.1 GB database consisting of about 35,000
files and it will receive a steady stream of data via the serial port. I
would appreciate advice on the best way to set this up.
Thanks,
David
