Cant understand how to use DOS

I do not know what to do once I have the DOS Screen on there are games there and I downloaded a game to DOS but when I get the Screen up I dont Know what to do. Ive tried start setup games every letter and number it just says bad command and dosent do anything can you please tell me what Im doing wrong!!!                Thankyou              Jennie
