We have two fiber-connected sites about ten miles apart. We're having intermittent problems with dropped telnet sessions and network errors between the two sites. I've looked at some captured traffic with tcpdump, but there's no obvious errors. Can anyone recommend some Linux tools that would help nail down our intermittent network problems? I'm thinking specifically of programs under Linux that would send and receive arbitrary data between two end points and would report any network errors encountered. Thanks.
