We have some tlan based NICs (Compaq too)here, and the driver is
actualy good, it was a little unreliable at the begining, it's stable
know. What's make us wonder about the tlan chipset is tha only a few
vendors use it, and almost all of them are using other now. But, maybe is
too expensive. But you can use it, at least give it a try. I have both
cards in my Compaq Prof. Workstation 5000, a tlan and a intel
(eepro100) based Netelligents, and the performance is kind of the same...
PS. If you load the driver and the card is not connected to the network
you're going to have a lot of annoying mesages on the console about the
autonegotiation.
