Shibu,
You probably need to clarify your general intent, if not your specific
problem/interest area. Your question could be referring to many levels of
the "domain name" realm. For example:
- You're not familiar with the domain registration/nameserver reservation
process (read NSI docs on internic.net)
- You don't know how to setup named/BIND (see HOW-TO's)
- You know how to setup named, but didn't realize you could have blah1.com
and blah2.com both resolve to the same IP address (you can)
- You are under the false impression that you always NEED multiple IP
addresses for multiple domain names (you don't)
- You already have multiple domain names on multiple IP's and need to setup
ppp/ethernet interface aliases/multi-homing (see HOW-TO's)
- You don't know how to make Apache listen on a single interface and serve
the proper domain's pages based on the domain requested by the client (see
Apache docs)
- You don't know how to make Apache listen on multiple interfaces and serve
the proper domain's pages based on the IP address of the interface the
request comes in on (see Apache docs)
- You just want to be able to telnet/ftp into different domains or
subdomains and be directed to your single PC. (you need IP aliasing, a
kernel config option.. eth0:0, eth0:1, etc.)
Hopefully, these different aspects of domain names will give you an idea
of what your goal for "having multiple domain names on a single PC" is, what
you should be asking about, and some general external resources to consult
so that we can help you get it figured it.
Good luck,
Jason Sloderbeck
