There are several ways to do this. There are a couple of ssl-proxy
or ssl-tunnel packages available which will accept ssl connections and
then connect to the real pop3/imap/smtp/whatever server. You can find
a bunch of pointers to them up on the openssl site (www.openssl.org).
I've used edssl and "proxy" (sometimes called sslproxy). I've tried
stunnel a while ago but couldn't get it to work reliably. Proxy is
simple but doesn't support client side certificates. Edssl is more
feature rich and is a stand-alone daemon.
