POP/IMAP servers I don't have available, but ZMailer contains
hooks for use of OpenSSL in standard distribution.

   ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/unix/mail/zmailer/src/
   http://www.zmailer.org/

The code in question is currently only for smtp-server, not smtp-
client. That client code may appear within a year, presuming the
OpenSSL will be able to do non-blocking operations properly first.
(Projected for OpenSSL 0.9.4 release.)

In fact the code I use is taken from Postfix patch for doing STARTTLS
service, but Postfix's developer is in USA these days, and likely can't
insert that code into the baseline..
