This is just a guess, but it is worth a try. When you system starts up,
does the BIOS tell you what IRQ is assigned to the network card?
Try telling the BIOS what IRQ you want assigned to the network card. Some
BIOS's will allow this. Any of the BIOS's that I have seen that do this, do
it by slot number. Of course you will have to make sure that you pick an
IRQ that no other device will be using. IRQ 9 is a good one.
Another solution is, if you don't need your Parallel port, just disable it
completely in the BIOS.

I have EtherlinkIII 3c509 and Linux recognize its IRQ as 7,but this is the
IRQ of parport.If I try to set Etherlink's IRQ to another one it stops to
respond.
The same is for Linux 2.2.5 and 2.0.35.
What I suppose to do ?
