Has anyone ever seen/used or know of an Ethernet Y cable? Something that
would, for instance, allow one to connect two machines to one switch port
or vice versa. We're evaluating a load balancing box from a vendor now
and it includes such a device. There's a rack mount box, inside of which
is a bunch of Y cable boards, little passive boards with 3 RJ45 jacks
each. No power, just a few passive R & C components. I've never seen or
heard of this being done, and wonder if it is completely contrary to sound
practice or not. I have an application where such a device would be
perfect if it will work and is practical, but I have to admit to a certain
amount of skepticism.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new
discoveries, is not "Eureka!" (I found it!) but "That's funny ..."
