As Breezecom is already mentioned: You should also take a look at
WaveLan from Lucent: http://www.wavelan.com/products/ . Also 2.4GHz IEEE
802.11 stuff, complete with linux drivers from their website. I have
only used the 2Mbit Versions, which work really flawless under Linux.

Also note that you don't necessarily need an access point if you only
want point-to-point connections, as the cards will do ad-hoc networks.
So you can use one Linux box as a router. It is somewhat cheaper, but
not extendable (more access points & roaming).
