Hello All,
I have a customer running a linux box as an FTP/File Server running Samba
for files services. Basically this customer has clients that FTP files to
their linux box from remote sites, and use the file services to pull those
files on to their local PC's.
These files that are uploaded are very large (100's of megabytes each) and
will require them to be deleted on a daily basis (that is deleted off of
the linux box). I have Samba and FTP running just fine. I can see the
directories of the FTP users as well as see the files that they have
uploaded. The problem I am running into is simply this...THEY CANNOT
DELETE THE FILES BECAUSE THEY ARE OWNED BY THE USER WHO UPLOADED THE FILE.
I am stumped on how to assign proper ownership rights to the people that
work with the files on the local network. When they go to delete the
files off of the Linux box, they get a "Permission Denied" error (due to
the files being owned by the FTP user). I would appreciate any ideas that
you might have in resolving this dilema.
Thanks in advance!
