When people shout "DNS!" as an answer to the problem of delayed login
prompts, it is not because they think that your computer is having trouble
resolving the server's host name - what causes the delay is the server
trying a reverse lookup on your machine for identification purposes. So
even if the server's DNS setup is working, you will still get a delay if
your own machine's DNS is not configured.
