Has anyone else noticed that it can take a minute or so to get the login prompt when telneting to a linux host? The problem isn't network congestion because the session runs satisfactorily after loging in. It's not DNS either because it's just as slow whether one uses hostname or IP address. The login prompt from a CISCO router on the same occurs promptly - but it runs IOS. The lag seems to be due entirley to Linux - kernels are from the 2.2.x series. - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
