I believe the rev D1 card does not use the tulip driver, they changed
chips or something, but there is one on the web site you refered to.
You need driver version 4.01 which has support for Linux using rev D1
card.

In Eudora when I try to send mail I am getting:

server. The message is not sendable until the recipient has been
changed.
In /var/log/message I am getting:

This was working fine and I can not figure out what I did to get this

Hi to all,
Well, I finally got connected to the i-net using ezppp, but the window
for ezppp just sits there and is on top of everything I call up (eg
netscape).
I uncommented the Decorate Transients in all the .fvwmrc files, but
that didn't help at all.
Anyone have any other ideas?

my local addresses go like this:

yes, these are all listed in my /etc/hosts file.

Hi!
Ive got a small network going at home with 2 linux RH5.2 machines,
and one of them is used to dial my isp. That works just fine, I can
connect to internet from my networked machine and the speed is
to my satisfaction (USR Courier V.Everything V.90, 48-50 connect).
My problem is: when I dial in to my network using mgetty
with my Win95 laptop it connects alright and the logfile tells
me its an 28k8/ARQ/V34... connection.
But my ftp/http transfers are so slow, both from the dialin machine
and the networked one. About 0.1k/s.
I have no clue.
Has anyone run into this problem before?

Subject: linux network problem, linksys ethernet cards
Date: Mon, 28 Dec 1998 16:58:32 -0700
Hello,
I need some help with a configuration problem with Red Hat 5.2. I'm
installing it into a Pentium-166 machine, PCI, SCSI, with a LinkSys
etherfast network card.
During boot, the machine hangs for several minutes while starting the
sendmail and httpd daemons, and locks entirely while starting snmb.
Removing the ethernet card fixes the problem and the machine boots
without error, but of course without network support.
Is there a hardware incompatibility? When entering network config, I
chose the appropriate IP address & subnet mask, but left the nameserver
options at default (perhaps this was not a good idea).
Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I may be reached via email at

Subject: 2-Nic problem
Date: Mon, 28 Dec 1998 18:51:18 GMT
I have run into problems getting linux to recognize BOTH of my
ethernet cards. It does recognize each individually. My config:
ISA NE2000 comp card, at 0x300, IRQ 10
PCI NE2000 comp card, at 0x6000, IRQ 12
Initially, with one card, my /etc/conf.modules looked like this:
alias eth0 ne
options ne io=0x300
After adding the PCI card I tried changing it to:
alias eth0 ne
options eth0 io=0x300
alias eth1 ne
options eth1 io=0x6000
Honestly, this looks wrong to me - it seems as though I'm redefining the
io port for the same ne module, but I'm at a loss at what else to try.
Currently linux sees only the PCI card on boot. Without the PCI card
in the board it detects the ISA card without problems.
Has anyone seen this situation before?
Boris
P.S. I'm trying to set up ip masquerading, hence the two card work.

You ppp is not configuring properly.
Make sure that you are running pppd with the debug option and chat with

I set dhcpd to lease ip's. It works fine. The problem is, that windows

overcome it. I really want to use dhcpd but if I have to put ip's in

You have to create not only additional printer entries in the printcap
file, but you have to create the needed directories for each one by name
and set permissions to them. If you are using Redhat, just use the Print
tool and create a new printer and the printtool takes care of the rest.
Then just enter the needed names and stuff in smb.conf.

Hi out there,
It seems that I do need to get my DNS IP(s) when dialing
in, just like MS-DOS 95 does.
According to the PPP HowTo, this is not possible:
>As previously mentioned, Linux cannot set its name server IP number in >the way that
>MS Windows 95 does. So you
>must insist (politely) that your ISP provide you with this information!
According to the ISP-Support there is a software that can do it, but
they just support MS-customers.
Are they fools ?
I tried other DNS, but their ******* firewall did not like it.
Any ideas, patches, wonders ??
