I have a RH 5.2 linux box with leafnode 1.4 retrieving messages from a
few newsgroups, and I get the messages via Forte Agent from 2 win95
boxes. Occasionally, my modem will drop out in the middle of a
"fetch", and the message bodies leafnode had gotten up to that point
are not retrievable from Agent; I get "No new messages" from Agent. I
don't know where leafnode stores the retrieved message bodies, or how
to move them over to Agent if I *did* find them. Can anyone give me a
pointer on this?

You know, I just got through posting about this exact topic where it's
marginally on-topic: alt.design.graphics.
Do check out http://www.pro-se-sports.com/ and http://www.erotasy.com/
for web sites created with hand-written HTML and CGI scripts. My
apologies if that somehow makes me an amateur.

No. You need to load the 3c59x.o driver. If you have loadable module support,
try this.
cd /lib/modules/2.0.36/net
modprobe -a 3c59x.o
That should work. If it does, let me know and I'll show you how to load it at
boot time.

Pretty soon ago, I tried to plug my modem, and it took (too) much time to
realize that my IRQ3 was shared with my eth0 card (it took half a minute to
solve) - I'd not be surprised if you told me it can happen on irq10 for
instance, used by many WSS compatible cards (eg: ProAudioExcel) - check your
irq, it's so obvious you never think about it!

Subject: Re: Linux and Netware
Log into your linux box and:
ipx_configure --auto_interface=on --auto_primary=on
mkdir /mnt/server # This creates the mount point - you really can put
this 'anywhere' you like
slist # Just to see if your server shows up - try again in a minute if
it doesn't
ncpmount -U userid -S servername /mnt/server # There are other options
to mount specific volumes but if you do it that # way, you can only
mount one volume at a time.
ls /mnt/server # should show your your list of volumes.
This of course assumes that some packages are installed....the RH5.2
gives an option to install them. If ipx_configure, slist and ncpmount
(ncpumount unmounts) aren't there, then obviously some of the shipping
rpms need to be installed.
Oh, one more note - this is a bindery connection. That means that on a
NW4+ server, you'll need to have bindery emulation set up for the
context of the container that the user you are wanting to login as
exists. At the server console:
config # spacebar till you get to the last line 'bindery context(s):'
If the context of the user you want to login as is there, you're in
business. If not, AND there is nothing there, then you can just type
"set bindery
context=.OU=container.OU=someothercontainer.O=organization". If a
context is alread showing up as being emulated, then the above line will
CHANGE it....you don't want to do that. Other processes may be relying
on that emulation. In that you you should do something like "set
bindery
context=.OU=whateveris.OU=onthescreen.O=already;.OU=container.OU=someothercontainer.O=organization".
I generally enter the existing context first and make sure I have the
syntax right, then add the semicolon and the additional context to be
emulated. Be cautious....if you mess up this bindery emulation stuff,
you could easily screw somebody up and restarting the server may be the
easiest/quickest way to fix it.
Final note: It works great and it's not rocket science....it's worth
figuring out.

If you have an RPM managed system, RdHat, SuSE, etc, then you can use
flags to RPM to determine which, if any, files have been modified. I
forget the flags, but try it. IIRC it is -v or something, for verify. It
can do MOD5 checksums, etc.

Could anyone explain me what I should do ? As I'm a beginner I would very

In my SuSe manual I don't find anything about DHCP client. Am I blind or is
this technique not used in Linux, or does it have another name ?

Hmm, maybe you will soon be able to use the WINE emulator. Netscape and IE 3.0
start up more or less and Comm4.0 has been seen running, too.
I have used Opera under Wine.

Hi
Its very simple follow the procedure given below. This will configure your
Netflex 3/p card.
1. Say "No" during the installation when it prompts you "Whether you want to
configure you Lan"
2. After complete installation, at the prompt execute the command
insmod tlan and then type "netconf" at the prompt.
3. Select the "Basic Host Information" option from the menu.
4. Fill in the parameters for IP address, Netmask, Netdevice as eth0, Kernal
Module as TLAN and select the ACCEPT button.
5. Then select the "Routing and gateways" option from menu.
6. Select the "Set Default" option.
7. Enter the gateway address and enable routing by pressing space bar
8. Accept the changes and exit from the configuration.
This will allow you to connect to the great external world to enjoy and share
your knowledge.
Let me know your feed back on this at the earliest.

Sounds like you are overwriting your default gateway when you dialup.
You might be able to overcome that by putting in a static route to your

Anyone worth the money they are getting paid does. Have you actually
looked at the bloated crap/source that the point and click web
developement programs spit out? Christ just hearing the words "FrontPage
Express" makes me wanna puke. It might be fine for a quick 5 minute "me

tuned HTML is what any true proffesional does.
I dunno about you, but when someone writes a program for my company, I
like to think they know the fscking language their "writing" it in. Same
goes for HTML and web design. If people can't code/write it without a
point and click interface, they need to read something other than a "Blah
for dummies" book. People who scream "but it takes to long that way" are
really saying "I don't know how to do it properly and I don't want to take
the time to teach my lazy ass how". Sure, everyone has to
learn at some point, but that's part of this industry, Lead, Follow, or

Hello!
Okay, I have an ethernet connection through my college dorm which provides
internet access. Windows 98 works fine with my 3Com card. Linux (Red Hat
5.1) found the card and was thrilled. My problem, I can't actually get an
internet connection to work. I have all the exact settings from the Win98
setup, and they are exactly the same in the network setup program in
xwindows. I can ping my own IP address, which is static, but cannot ping
any other address, I get an error message that says this: (or something
similar) "cannot find network". When I installed RH 5.1 I choose to install
everything, so I'm pretty sure all the software that's needed is there! I
was wondering if anyone could tell what I am doing wrong. I know this is
not a lot of information to go on, but if you need to know something else,

took it one step further and set *.* to debug and still none of the
