Go to $HOME/.netscape. Edit preferences.js and look for
user_pref("browser.bookmark_file", ...). Enter the file thats
on your windows partition. Voila!

hello
has anyone had any luck getting the sb1200 external modem by GI to work under
redhat 5.2? Ived tried using dhcp etc...setting it up via control panel
etc...and nothing seems to work. apparantly it stores a webpage at
192.168.100.1 as i can see under windows. but when i attempt to connect to the
page in linux, it tells me "network is unreachable". I use the following, but
it doesnt seem to work:
#! /bin/shIPADDR="192.168.100.2" # REPLACE with YOUR IP

Subject: e-mail stress (sendmail or qmail)
Date: Tue, 30 Mar 1999 01:03:37 GMT
I'm not new to linux, I've been running Linux for 5 years se be as
blunt and technical as you like.
I am curently running sendmail with no relaying allowed. this is
however unfortunate for all my local users running windows.
whenever they send mail, they get a relay denied. the system will
accept e-mail from anywhere to local and from local to anywhere so
long as the e-mail originated on the local machine.
I need a sendmail.cf file that will allow smtp connections from
anywhere to send to anywhere so long as the return address is to the
local machine or the e-mail is addressed to the local machine.
I tried qmail but had the same problem. e-mail from localhost works
perfect but not from a remote host on the local net.
I've been watching the news groups for a while and have tried several
solutions but none to solve this.
I've triel relay_allow but that only allowed users to send outgoing
mail to {relay_allow} I tried relay deny but spammers keep makeing up
new domains. I have a relay deny file almost a meg in size but with a
open relay using domain validation and relay_deny, spammer are still
getting through using my mail server as a spam relay.
I tried using inet but that prevented the machine from recieveing mail
from people not on the local net.
a solution is desperately needed.
e-mail prefered but will watch for posting also.

Subject: IPSEC with kernel 2.2.x???
Date: Wed, 31 Mar 1999 05:04:08 GMT
Is there a freely available IPSEC implementation for Linux that works with
kernels 2.2.x and above? Everything I've found so far seems to target only the
2.0.x series.
I noticed that there is an ipsec.h included with the kernel source, but I'm
guessing that specifically deals with the IPv6 kernel module.
It seems strange that there isn't a high profile project for this item.
If possible, please copy my email address on your answer.

Hello Benjamin,
You need to add a line to your startup script that reads:
"rm /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-eth0.cache"
I had the same problem as you...but now it work everytime. You can put
it in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup.

Yes, I have seen this before. The dos software does not let you take it out
of EISA mode. I have had cards that have been in servers and later take
them out and put them in ISA slots in other computers and ran in to the same
problem.
I had to put the card back into a EISA computer and set it to ISA.
The 3C509 is a version good network card, I have two of them running in my
linux box.
If you call 3Com they will fix the card.

Hi,
I tried even downloading the latest driver from Vortex site but I faced the
same problem.
Finally I could get it working by disabling PNP from BIOS. I am using a HP
Pavilion 8380 PC. There was an option in the BIOS, PNP aware OS. I set it to
"NO" and it started working. What does this imply?. Linux doesn't understand
PNP or this PC's BIOS has problem working with Linux.
Can I enable the PNP option and still be able to make this driver work in
Linux?.
Thanks a lot,
Mohan.

Big question: Whats in /etc/HOSTNAME ?? It should be "bingo"
followed by a newline.
Ideas:
Leaving /etc/resolv.conf empty!
Check /etc/nsswitch.conf -- Is 'files' listed under 'hosts:'?
% su root
% find /etc -type f -print | xargs grep localhost
(This will return a lot of fluff, but it gives one ideas where to look...)

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
or 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
See the NET-3-HOWTO (or RFC1597). IP addresses in these ranges are
reserved for private networks. 192.0.0.1 is not reserved, and could
be used by someone else on the internet...

Thanks for your reply. Attached is a gzipped tar file containing a
simple server with one entrypoint and a client program.
To build it, use:
> make all
Start server with:
> ./server
and start 2 clients with:
> ./client <hostname> 5000
> ./client <hostname> 6000
The second number is the size of the opaque<> data that is allocated by
the client.
In my case, this example hangs the server after some calls and then it
crashes after a while.
Remark: if the message size is small enough, e.g. 400 and 200 for client
1 and 2 the problem does not seem to occur.
My (wild) guess is that the above a certain size multiple packets should
be assembled by the server into a single request but that the packets
from client 1 and 2 somehow get intermixed.

Tom,
If you can't find anyone I would suggest getting a copy of the LINUX
Network
Toolkit by Paul G. Sery. It has all the info you need and is a quick read
if you're
already familiar with Linux and Win98. I was able to set up my home
intranet
(1 server, 1 firewall, 2 Linux clients, 4 Win98 clients, SMC switched hub)
in one
day. All I need now is for cable modem access to hit my area (Colorado
Springs)
sometime around August and I'll have 24x7 connectivity. BTW, are you
planning to use the ADSL connection to serve an intranet? I read an
article
somewhere in the bowels of ZDNet that ADSL doesn't support that. Let me
know if it does, I might take another look at my connectivity options.
Good luck!
Wayne

Hi,
AFAIK MS supports the socks protokoll. Have a look on
http://www.socks.nec.com. There is a socks server
including clients. Probably this helps, but i haven't
