As writting RPLd, I want to send raw packet,
I had studied the kernel source and found it
is possible to call device transmit procedure,
but I cannot found the function to get dev_base.
The address of dev_base can found in System.map,
but I thought the System.map is not a dependable
file, if anyone knows how to get dev_base through
the current running kernel, please tell me, thanks.

Is
209.220.92.91
your machine? Do you want to "permit relaying" for it?
Add it to the file, restart sendmail, and you're set.

Janusz,
the solution is very simple: mention your DNS server(s) in /etc/resolv.conf
more than once (max 3 repetitions per nameserver) to increase the time out
for DNS queries.

Also, make sure your 10BaseT cable isn't running next to any extension or
power cords. This may cause a lot of errors and a lot of retransmits.

Rules look at first sight good.
You coud also put as last rule a deny-line with -o set, so you would (in
/var/log/messages) see what packet gets denied.

I have read somewhere that it could be that the computer hardware is
trying to establish a connection via the network cards' 100MBit- rather
than their 10MBit-connection.
Could that have anything to do with it ?
Again, I can not get ping echos from one machine to the other (between
192.168.1.4 and 192.168.2.4). Pings to localhost and the respective
machines=B4 own IP-addresses work just fine.
Thanks for any help.

What is the easiest way to get this device set up? Should I go back into
the Redhat installation program and select "upgrade", or should is there
an easier/cleaner way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Firewall, hands down. Check /usr/doc/HOWTO for this and others. Setting up
the actual webserver is easy, and should be your second priority. Then,
content and programming.

Subject: HELP: My users have problems logging on...
Date: Thu, 01 Apr 1999 20:41:59 GMT
Hi all,
I wonder if you can help me. I'm new to Linux and i've been given a
temporary position whilst the main admin is on a vacation.
We've got a small network that's hooked to the Internet and sometimes
some of the people log onto it from home in order to surf the
Internet. But there's a problem.
The problem is: My collegues have to try several times in order to
make a successful connection. One of my colleagues who's also new to
Linux said that when he does 'tail -f /var/adm/messages' whilst
connecting, he gets a message "serial line is looped back". He only
get's this once or twice and then it's fine. But this happens too
often, i.e. on nearly every connection attempt. The others mainly use
Win98 and report that it takes them several attempts before they're
accepted onto the server.
As far as I can tell, I think this is related with the what I've
noticed. When they logoff or get disconnected for some reason or
another, their session is left running on our server, which is a Linux
server. I notice this when I do 'ps -aux|more' and I can see their
username on there but they're not logged on as I've checked with the
'w' command.
Why is this happening and where have we gone wrong?
I would appreciate any help on this. TIA.

Subject: Network problem!! Please HELP!
Date: Thu, 01 Apr 1999 16:50:40 GMT
Hello,
I'm using RedHat 5.2 (2.0.36) with two network cards. One of the cards
(eth0) is an onboard card which communicates via TCP/IP to a network.
The other card is a noname NE2000 compatible, communicating via IPX
to another network.
When I boot the machine the first network card (eth0) is brought up at boot
and is working properly, that is that I can ping other hosts in my network,
and using Internet etc. The second card (eth1) is brought up and configured
manually by using the following commands:
ifconfig eth1 up
ipx_interface add -p eth1 802.3 0x20
After this, all works fine, I can both communicate with the TCP network and
IPX network, but after some "random" time it seems like the
the first network (eth1) interface hangs. I cant ping other hosts (the
ping command hang, so I have to press CTRL-C to return to the prompt), no
access to Internet and so on. The IPX interface is still working.
When I run the command 'route' without any switches it will only show
the two first lines, and then it hangs (CTRL-C to interrupt). If I use
'route -n' all 3 lines are shown and are correct.
Does anyone have any clue what the problem could be??
I would really appreciate any comments on the above problem.
Thanks in advance
Ronnie Wengfelt
