Microsoft works with Microsoft. Linux works with everything. The best
way to set it up is to have Linux as you gateway/masq box. Set up
Linux with IP Masquing, and hook to the internet thru it.

Why would anyone want to use Microsoft for a gateway, anyhow?

Does this module normally display any verbose info?

When I do "insmod" on it, the command goes thru with no echo at all. Is this
alrite? I have a ne200 compatible on another computer, and it informs me

Hi,

I am using RedHat Linux 5.2 and encounter the following problem:

portmap -d reports: "portmap[10320]: cannot bind upd: Address already in
use".

My TCP/IP setup seems to be ok, Ping, FTP, HTTP and telnet work in
both directions.

Does anyone have an idea what the reason for this error might be?

I appreciate your help!

My httpd won't start if I have SSLEnable tag in the httpd.conf
If I change it to SSLDisable, httpd starts fine.

>From the error log, I read the following:

Of course, dummy.pem *DOES* exist, and is readable. What does the "no
start line" message mean, and how do I fix it?

I cut/pasted the commands for generating a (dummy) cert from the ssleay
pages, FWIW.

I'm sick and tired of you new generation "Hackers" warez kids. You pussies
have no brains, lack attention spans and are severly misinformed. Your
statements lack basic coherance and present little finnesse in the form
of written expression of thought.

Stop insisting that RedHat is free! Linux is FREE. RedHat is a commercial
entity that as a sign of good will released a lot of their code (rpm ....)
into gpl (or similar) and made their distribution very inexpensive if purchased
with manuals or free if one believes they cannot afford it otherwise.

When you grow up, hopefully soon, and get a job, hopefully outside computer
industry, you'll understand that there is really nothing FREE. Even linux is
not totally free, do you think Linus, Cox and countless others would continue
their work if all they got as feedback was crap like yourself? I don't think so.

If you are sure that modem is on com2, point /dev/modem to /dev/cua1,
not /dev/cua0.

remove /dev/modem
do "ln -s /dev/cua1 /dev/modem"

Did you point your minicom to /dev/cua1? If not, how can it talk to
the modem through the wrong port?

All network cards(PCI) which have RTL8029 chipset works properly under
Linux via ne2k-pci module driver. Mentioned in Ethernet-Howto. But this
driver does not support full-duplex mode. For example Surecom EP-325.
This card's software diskette contains Linux driver as well. You can
compile this C code and make it as module.

Here with MediaOne there's actually a MediaOne I.S. guy who has a page
dedicated to Linux security and firewalling with our system. If you're on
MediaOne I highly recommend it: I'm not smurfable any more (I don't respond
to pings outside MediaOne at least) and the firewall works great for my
home network.

Check it out, I was ready to go in an hour or so:

Oh, they are NOT idiots. Idiots are those who buy said software along
with "<sagan> millions, verified, no duplications, no flamers" address
lists. Usually those idiots believe that they can't be (trivially) traced
down - "but ads for the super-acme-mega-stealth-rapid-f*ckup said
that anti-commerce radicals willn't find me". Yeah. Right.

You see, there are two layers in this shit-cake. There are lusers who buy
the scumware and Lose Accounts Fast (tm) and there are shit-peddlers,
knowing pretty well what they are doing and bilking aforementioned lusers.
Former need to be pitied for their terminal cluelessness and shot.
Shit-peddlers... well, they shouldn't get out *that* easy. At least it
should be slow and painful. Details may vary according to your tastes.

When i had these long delays they were caused by the reverse "ident"
lookups on port 113 that the tcp-wrapper on the telnet-server sent.
I made a hole in the firewall to let those thru, you probably could
reject them as well to get rid of the timeout.

Hi,

I have a small network of two computers

1) PII-266, Windows98 (IP 192.168.1.2) with winproxy.

2) P133, Linux RH52 (IP 192.168.1.1)

Basic networking works fine i.e. I am able to ping one machine from other and
vice versa. Also from the windows machine I am able to telnet/ftp the linux
machine. Using winmodem in my windows machine I connect to internet. Winproxy
works fine and I am able to use internet from the linux machine. Now I want
to use the linux machine to connect (using telnet/ftp) to a remote host. How
do I define my route so that I am able to telnet a.b.c (or the actual IP
address). Currently I am able to connect to a remote host from the windows
machine but not from the linux machine.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Well, if the person is really desperate, a DejaNews search may be
faster. Many questions are FAQ. Failing the DejaNews search, posting
to the news group is just fine. But one shouldn't expect an email
reply. What you are doing is a curtousy that won't work on munged
addresses. For example, when you CC'd me via e-mail, your message
landed in my trashcan account. It is a legit account, so I did get
and read the message. If I replied via e-mail, I would have had my
primary address in the from header.

As far as deleting the mail goes, you are probably doing that after
you received it already. If you are like me, you have a slow link.
Who wants to burn up time receiving junk mail when the call is a toll
call, as it is in my case.

I like to receive mail from people. I find it very disapointing when
my only mail is from spammers or cron. At least I can pipe cron to
/dev/nul. I wish I could do that to the people who compose the spam.
