configuration:
Server Linux:

i/o=300; IRQ=10; RAM= CC000
Mouse : 3 butons ms-compatible

3 Clients working with Windows.

The probleme is my linux doen't recognise my 2 Networks Cards and my
mouse doesn't work in X.
I have only 3 posibilities to configure my NIC:
1) i/o =280; IRQ= 3 ; RAM=D0000

I need help to configure this server.

Thanks for any help

I've experienced the same problem since I now have my linux machine
setup as my internet dialout host. I can't play any internet games from
my Win95 machine. I know with Kali, they provide a proxy app, which I
run on my linux machine which opens a static port to communicate with
the Kali servers. When I talked to their tech support, they stated that
the port numbers on my end kept changing, which is why I could connect
but not play. But, like I said, their proxy app took care of that
problem. I'm sure it's a similar problem with gaming zone et al. What
happens, I suspect, is that everytime you connect, you connect via a
random port, so unless create and connect via a static port (like the
Kali proxy) configuring your firewall etc... might not do any good
because that port number will change. Not what you wanted to hear, I'm
sure, but if someone can provide some more insight on this, I would like
to know too.

but can't find it ..

can you tell me what file to change & what to change in that file ...
or just send me the file :)

using RH 5.2 kernel 2.2.5

Strange. I thought that you could have either a 10Mb/s or 100Mb/s network
card? Where 30Mb/s comes from? As far as I can tell, most cable providers
here (US, Canada) provide you with a network card capable of 10Mb/s which is
more than plenty for an average user. My provider is @Home and they've given
me Intel 10Mb/s ethernet card. My home network works on a fast ethernet
100Mb/s (so it's faster what @Home has given me) but still, I don't complain
about my Internet connection. Couldn't go back to a modem.. Yak.

Try never... The best performance I've seen was over 300Kb/s. Now, I'm talking
about INTERNET connection and no your local cable modem provider. You will
always have a faster connection from them because you are on the same
network...

I just installed RH Linux 2.0.36 with an Intel EtherExpress and went
through hell with it. Had to go to 2.2.5 kernel where there is an
improved eexpress.o module. Might need to configure the card with c800
and 32k. It seemed the module was looking for those specs at boot.
Dunno about irq 11 but 0x300 is a preferred setting.

Still cant get samba working but at least the machines can talk to
each other, and transfer large files without CRC errors.

Hi everybody.

I have a portable computer with a PCMCIA Ethernet card ("ovislink") and
a PS/2 mouse.
Under Windows 3.1, when I work with the ethernet card for a while, the
mouse sudenly becomes crazy: it starts moving randomly, behaves as
pressing the buttons, etc.

If somebody has had the same problem or knows how to help me....

Thanks very much to everybody.

I have a problem.
I own a ISDN card by ASUSCOM. It is a pnp card so I have to configure it
before loading the module with the actual support.I have tried configuing
iit with the isapnp tool I have tried letting windows configure it and soft
booting and I have tried not configuring it. I have been trying to get it
to work with the aid of patches from the asuscoms page(for the < 2.1.x
kernels) I have tried the pretty much every kernel I have been abel to get
my hands on,..the end result is allways the same. The configuring part
SEEMS to go ok,..nothing complains at any rate,.when I load the HiSax
module the first ferw lines seems ok but then it says wrong HSCX version,
check the io addres,..aborting,...I have tried pretty much every possible
io addres that is possible,..so I asume that the problem might be something
to trivial for it to be easly found.
Do anyone have any sugestions ? Any help is apreciated. Thank you.

Date: Sun, 18 Apr 1999 18:26:16 GMT

Rainer,

I am pretty sure the Linux module name for my NE2000 ISA ethernet NIC is ne.
Module ne2k-pci is for the PCI card.

I did not attempt to compile the ne module into the kernel because I
understand that I need not go to such ends simply to install my ethernet NIC.
As it stands, I find it very difficult to install an ethernet card in a
Linux box. Re-compiling the kernel just to install an ethernet card seems
extreme.

I had no trouble installing the ethernet card under Windows 95. Linux still
has a long way to go to ease installation and the primary obstacle it faces
towards widespread "consumer" adoption.

There should be no problem linking various types of computers together. ISPS
and businesses do it all the time. NT and Linux work well together for the
most part. As long as the machines all use tcp/ip then they should work
together. if you have any more questions email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
