Don't you do that with:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb stop
/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start

Another fellow below says: "I don't think so."
I'll take that a step further:
I know it is not so.
3C509 ISA 10 only
3C59x PCI(some PCMCIA) some 10 only, some 10/100
3C90X PCI(some PCMCIA?) 10/100

cut of one connector en switch number 1-3 and 2-6 of the cable
if you want to know which one is one and which is six, put the cable in
a networkcard, you'll see there are only 4 wires connected!

Subject: sendmail and virtual hosts

Hi all,
I have a linux server (RedHat 5.2 kernel 2.2.7) with a heap of virtual
webhosts (ie 35). They all work just fine. I want to setup sendmail to
bounce mail in a slightly different way. I want to use the following:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] -> bounce to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED] -> bounce to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Now, I thought it wouldn't be a hassle. I added the two domains to
/etc/sendmail.cw and then added [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] to
/etc/aliases and ran "newaliases". No "errors" just a warning saying that
there was an overlapping name "aName" (or similar msg). If I email either
address it ends up at [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Where do I go from here? I have tried
reading the sendmail doc's but they don't cover it - as far as I can tell.
Also, is it possible to do virtual ftp hosting like virtual www hosting?
That is, map a domain to a directory for ftp?
Thanks, Andrew.

Hi
I am making good progress now with Netatalk thanks to help from this group.
HOWEVER I noticed yesterday when I wa copying a load of files from my Mac
to the shared Linux diisk that I was getting error messages on the Linux
console.
They went something like:-
eth0 Interrupted while interrupts are masked.
This was happening over and over again although the copy SEEMED to be going
okay.
System is Thinkpad 560 with eth0 being a PCMCIA Dayna communicard ethernet
i/f running Redhat 5.2 (Kernel 2.0.36).
Does anyone have any idea what this could be???

Hi all,
I just setup a couple dial-in modems on one of the linux boxes at work. At
the moment a "w" displays:
USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
a_ppp ttyS0 28800/ARQ/V34/LA Sat 9pm 21:08m 0.04s 0.04s pppd 115200
a_ppp ttyS1 31200/ARQ/V34/LA 6:35pm 3:16 0.06s 0.06s pppd 115200
Is there a way to see who is actually logged in on each of those modems? I
am using the pap_secrets file for the login name and password.

Hi All,
I have a small home network going. Two computers, Dual Boot,
Redhat 5.1/Win95 and server running Redhat 5.2 & Samba. I
have Server/Samba working fine with Win95, I can log in and
see all the available shares etc.
So with that working I've started changing various settings
in the smb.conf to see what effect it has in Windows 95. On
page 169 of the John Blair Samba book, if browseable = no
the service will not appear in network browser but will
still be available.
For example, I have a share /doc on my samba server, shows
up in Windows 95 network neighborhood life is good. I then
set browseable = no for that service now it does not show up
in the nethood, works as advertised.
Now how do I get at that service. "Net Use" says it is not
available, and I should contact my system administrator :-)
Thanks,
Joe

How can I do this ? Can I do that with squid ?
Or is there a simpler way ?
I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Okay, lets look at the answer.
I try to pick a printer it gives me the options, locally connected, served
via Unix server, served via windows server or served via Netware server.
Well my HP Deskjet is is NONE of these.
It is a printer sitting on my Ethhernet network not connected to ANYTHING
directly.
Now I can see NOTHING about this option in the HOWTO (unless I missed it)
or in the Control panel.
Any other ideas?

ISTR that VMware has a fairly comprehensive guide on how to do this on
their site.
You need to enable host only networking. In the windows machine, set up
a fixed IP address, say 192.168.0.1 with netmask 255.255.255.0, but
don't use the same network as your real machine is on. Then you set up
the default gateway to the IP address of the "fake" vmnet0 interface on
the linux box. If you're using the newer beta version, then this
should have been set up for you at boot time. If you're using the older
beta, upgrade it. Then you need to set up IP masquerading on the Linux
box. Read the how-tos for that.
Essentially, something like -
/sbin/ipchains -P forward DENY
/sbin/ipchains --flush forward
/sbin/ipchains -A forward -j MASQ -s 192.168.0.1 -i ppp0
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
