You need to 'escape' the double-quotes (except for the ones on the end)
in the 'combined' and 'common' log formats, like so:
LogFormat "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b \"%{Referer}i\" \"%{User-Agent}i\""
LogFormat "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b" common
-jason
(to reply via email, make the appropriate substitution in my email address)

Your problem is related to reverse ip lookups.
If you're running DNS make sure that your DNS can succesfully resolve ip
address to hostnames. Furthermore make sure that the hostname that each
machine thinks it has doesn't conflict with what the DNS knows.
If you only use hosts files make sure that all hosts files contain all
hostnames and addresses of the machines that you're going to be
telneting/ftping to and from. Again make sure that there are no
conflicts beteen what each machine thinks its called and what the hosts
files say.
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the advise. Big Brother is already installed on the site, but
they still need snmp management for other groups to look at it and page. Big
Brother is used internaly to the group, but snmp and HP open view is going
outside for other support groups.
Thanks again.

I'm no expert, but it looks to me like your side is trying to
authorize via PAP into the remote side. The noauth option only applies
to not requiring the remote authorizing into yours. Try the "-pap"
option either in ./options or on the command line. That might prevent
your pppd from trying to use PAP (which I wouldn't think you would need,
since you've already logged in via terminal mode.)
BTW, can you e-mail the MindSpring ISP link regarding connecting via
Linux? Maybe it'll help me with my problem...

might be connected - something happened while moving the pcs.
One of the "mobile" PC has frequent "NFS not responding"

it would help if you could have a ping maemb3 running and log it to
a file , then you can see if the network-connection was down when the
nfs-connection was.
It's strange that only 1 "mobile" PC has this problem,

how is maemb1 connected to the wireless? loose cable?

This is some of global options from my smb.conf:
logon script = %U.bat
path = /usr/local/samba/var/netlogon
logon path =
logon drive = V:
logon home = \\%N\%U
domain logons = Yes
Go in /usr/local/samba/var/netlogon and make BATCH files for users:
my rumen.bat:
@echo OFF
if ~%USERNAME% ne ~ goto winNT
:win9x
echo Hello Windows-9x user !
rem Manual map user home for W-9x:
net use V: /DELETE /YES > nul
net use V: \\<MY_SAMBA_SERVER>\rumen /YES > nul
goto end
:winNT
rem W-NT map by default user homes:
rem Options from smb.conf:
rem logon drive = V:
rem logon home = \\%N\%U
echo Hello %USERNAME% on Windows-NT !
goto end
:end
In this time i have problem with roaming profiles under NT.
( options logon path = \\%N\%U\profile ). This work perfect some time,
but after some preinstallation of NT, NT try to make every time a new
local copy of roaming profile to local disk. I become over 10 local
profiles for 1 user (a NT bug).
