2)
conf.modules
alias eth0 eepro
options eth0 -o eepro io=0x210 irq=11
alias eth1 eepro
options eth1 -o eepro io=0x220 irq=5
3) used insmod command
insmod eepro io=0x210,0x220 irq=11,5

I cannot compile sendmail 8.9.3
It complain there is no groff
This is what Sendmail FAQ say:
You can get groff from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/. But it's not a big deal, because:
1.You've already successfully built the sendmail binary to get this far.
2.You can just use the preformatted man pages anyway:
% cp *.0 obj*
But I don't understand the statement:
cp *.0 obj*
Do i really need to type "cp *.0 obj*" under src directory?
The installation still fail even i type this.

Subject: fetchmail problem
Date: Tue, 03 Aug 1999 13:51:00 +0200
Hi,
I have a strange problem with my Internet-Connection.
The linux-machine works as mail router and WWW-Proxy. The
connection to the provider is made via ISDN (ipppd 2.2.9 and Kernel
2.2.10) and masquerading. A nameserver is configured as forward-server
and resolves local names too.
Sometimes it happens that a timeout occures while fetching mail from
the provider. The fetchmail process hangs up and there is no more
network traffic to the provider, so the isdn-device hangs up after a
while. After that the connection to the mail-server gets very slow.
If I go into single-user mode and back to network mode, the connection
is as fast as before.
I tried to look with tcpdump on the traffic over the ippp0-interface
and there are a lot of fragmented packets.
Does anybody know who I can solve this problem?
Thanks

Simple answer it can't be done without root rights.
So you should talk to your administrator. Perhaps the server is already
configured as a masquerading server. This means that all the traffic that
comes out of it will have the same ip address.
If this has been done by your admin, then you can just set the default
gateway address to that Linux box and it will masq your ip address with the
ip address of that Linuxbix connected to the net.

First let me tell you that beowulf cleints are available for windows.
But what you are saying that you wanne use "variaty" of software for
Windows in a cluster isn't really true.
There isn't much cluster aware software on Windows. You need to write the
performance clustering code your self using the libs suppliued with the
cluster. Like beowulf.
I have seen code written in C on Linux with the Beowulf lib and compiling
that on Windows wich ran without any adjustments.

This is the greatest bullshit!
Masquerading is always faster than proxying. (but okay on your 486 it may be a
problem).
But your management easier you are really out of your mind. Because Wingate
isn't transparent so you need to install the client software on all your
clients. That client software isn't available on any other platform then
Windows.
Managing masq is nothing just 3 lines of code or when you use SuSE setting one
line to yes and it works.
I suggest that you first get in to the matter before you judge something
without any good background knowledge.

So does Linux hang, or is it just ls? If it is Linux that hangs,
does the NFS mount contain anything needed by the running system?
> Questions:
> * Did someone already experience similar problems?

NFS client may behave in two ways:
(a) wait until the NFS request is served (no timeout), or
(b) wait until a timeout ade return an error to the application
that made the NFS request.
I believe, by default RH 6.0 NFS uses the first configuration.
Seem 'man nfs', options 'hard', 'soft', 'timeout'.

The connection is never actually established. I think that you might have been led
up the garden path by the login. It may be that ATT uses CHAP and does not
want you to log in ( and when you do leaves you in limbo)
Anyway that document will show you how to figure out what they want, and how
to debug your connection.

You do not show us your chat file so we do not know how it corresponds to what
is actually sent.

You also do not seem to have the debug option for pppd set (or you have not setup
syslog.conf )

In th elog files you should send us the whole of the log output, including the
timing info at the beginning of the lines. That can sometimes be crucial for
debugging.

You can use pppd's ip-up script which pppd runs when its link
is up for IP purposes or you can use diald's ip-up config option
to specify a script that should be run once the link is up (this
one works for link types other than PPP as well).

ipchains i.e. input, output, and forward. my config is
input policy - accept
forward policy - deny
output policy - accept
and in the output chains i only allow the internal network to telnet to
internet hosts. it works but i find out that we still have web access. does
it also use the forward chains?! and if i change the input policy to deny,
all access is blocked!
my question is, what is the difference use of the 3 chains?! please help.

suppose that the log file is in a file called debug in /var/log dir.
I parsed that file but found no connect speed.

I've got a Linux PC with 2 network cards. It's working as a gateway
for an IP-telephony device.
The IP-telephone is connected to the 1st network card. The 2nd network
card is connected to the network over an RJ45 cable.
The pc should regulate the traffic between the IP-telephone and the
rest of the network. That means it should be able to adjust the
bandwidth
and so on.
So how should I configure the two network cards and the whole system?
the software we use for the IP traffic regulation is called NIST Net.
The Linux distribution is SuSE 5.1.
I would be grateful for any advice.
kind regards

well, the error is pretty obvious. apache can't find a file, most likely
