The module es1371 should already be installed on the system, located in
/lib/modules/<kernel-version-number>/misc
This information concerns a 2.2.xx kernel, as 2.4.xx kernels have different
path's.
You make no mention of which distro you are using and no mention of the
soundcard being a PCI device or a isa card, so i will "try" and give a general
account of things to do with a PCI device as the chances are thats what it is.
As root do;
Open the file /etc/conf.modules or /etc/modules.conf (whichever you have) with
your editor, place the following at the bottom of the file.
alias char-major-14 sound
save the file and type the command;
/sbin/modprobe es1371
If modprobe fails with something like "undfined Symbols" bla bla, do;
/sbin/modprobe soundcore
/sbin/modprobe es1371
Your card sould now be up and running.
If not please state the card "type" in your next mail along with other info
like,
kernel version
distro and distro version.
Commands used by you and the "complete" error messages they return.
