that somewhat not true.
yes. between GNU developers there are many really great peoples. just like in
commercial companies. actually most of GPL/BSD developers are working in
commercial companies and doing GPL/BSD works just for fun or if they are
developing this software for their employers and employers do no pretend to
make software proprietary.
this is the case of Apache, Eazel, FreeBSD, PostgreSQL, MySQL and of many
other products.

Again... If programme suit needs of its developer - He will try to stop
developing. Due to GPL/BSD it can transfer further developing and maintaining
to someone else safely - his copyright (or copyleft) will remain.
Logic: I wrote the programme. It working for me well. You found a bug. You
need to fix it? Okay, you are authorized to do it - you have the source.
That's why free system is better - yoou can fix it by yourself! If You are
really tired to wait someone else to implement feature you want - you can
implement it by yourself. if you are tired to see nasty bug - you are free to
fix it.
So in case of M$ - bug fixing is just way to support customers. In case of
free system - bug fixing is natural way of life - bug are fixed by someone who
needs it to be fixed.

thanks a lot from all programmers ;-)))
do you know?
...
or you do not know?
okay I tell you truth.
most programmers are HUMANS.
as humans they are hungry sometimes.
they need taco.
so they need some money.
so they have to work to make money sometimes.
and another piece of truth - good programmers are very busy peoples. they have
a lot of work because they really can do a lot work. And I do not think
programmer will start to programming on his vacations ;-)))
> I'm not sure the same applies to M$ products.
Many good programmers are working for M$.
And they done many really great products.
Quality of products depends on many factors. And only few of this factors
depend on programmers.
PS sorry for this answer. that's a real "holy war question"...
PPS sorry for my English - it is my fourth language.
