Thanks Manish,

xf86config did not work either. However, I got X working now. I 
installed RH6.2 configured X whithin the install program, then I 
upgraded to RH7.0 with the upgrade program and startx came up 
like a dandy.

One problem so, how to get rid of the ugly opening picture, a guy 
with a red hat amidts a crowd.
