The K56Flex Compaq modem is the most proprietary piece of .... that I have
run across. Where I work we had to pull one from a Presario 4550 to install
a USR X2 so they could connect two Win95 machines. Since then I have not
been able to get any system to recognize this modem nor have I been able to
get Win 95 drivers for it from Compaq to try that route. It may very well
be a WinModem, which would mean that it ain't gonna work in Linux, period.
If I get any where with this thing I'll let you know.
