There are two good editors in Linux, both are a little harder to learn,
but both are better than edit too. Vi is small, fast and kind of
powerful; it will always be on your system. Emacs is big and very
powerful, but you might have to download it separately. The commands
are:
vi <filename>
or
emacs <filename>
