Well MS has more money/developpers than Linus, and they started in the
early 80s, Linus started in 1991, and look at the systems Linux supports.
Both started on Intel processors, without thinking about portability.
K6's 3dNow! is just a some optional instructions, and DirectX is just (in
this case) a graphics library. That isn't supporting another architecture
in my book. (with Intel I meant : general x86 architecture)
NT supports the alpha, ok, but only at 32 bits (alpha is a 64 bits
processor).
