IMHO, DO NOT go with the cheapest of anything for your computer
hardware.   You are usually safe with name brand stuff, just shop
around.
I recommend you do a little research on motherboards.
http://www.motherboards.org has outstanding info including chipset types
and always check the manufactures site to ensure the vendors info is
correct.  Onboard sound and video might be ok but I would definitely
want a way to disable it in case it wasn't compatible with Linux and/or
you want to upgrade.  Also, If you are sure you want to go with a socket
7 board you might think about getting one that supports the newest AMD-2
processors for future upgrades.

Anyway, that is my 2 cents worth :-)
