Hello

Just joined this list and I see many similar problems.

Running Red Hat Linux 5.0 (hurricane)

I have a Best Data 33.6 internal modem, Cyrix chip , VX-II pro chipset
motherboard.

Linux is installed and I can run X windows. No other OS on drive.

I can dial out on minicom to my current ISP. But it is not working right.

First - Minicom Problems
Minicom acts like a terminal program with problems.
- My keystrokes do not show up or show up way after I strike the keyboard.
- On Minicom (MC) start-up the initilization string c-r-e-e-p-s up onto
the screen. I see an OK sometime after.

Second - communication problems
I CAN dial out to my ISP BUT
- (shell dialup)I have to hit the space key for the incoming data to be
written on the screen. I can log in an use my shell account this way.
- (ppp dialup) same as above. when I do jerry-rig a login for the ppp
account the PPP data does NOT come streaming in, I have to hit the sapce
bar.

Third - PPP
Needless to say I am having all sorts of problems with ppp-on, pppd, etc.

Fourth - instant logout!
I was trying some of the commands contained in the ISP-Hook-up-HOWTO And
found the most charming side effect to the following command combo

exec pppd connect ....

after I hit return the next thing I see is the login screen for Linux!
