What would that mean: I launch minicom, it dials to my Isp..give me successful authentification..then the traditional pppd garbage.. Then I live minicom without reset, executed ppp -d -detach /dev/ttyS3 38400 &.. And all I see is a symbol like > .. ans what ever I enter (for exple..lynx http://www.myisp.com..it says Looking for host myisp.com..and it s stuck there eternally.. ???? I ve double checked /etc/ppp/options and just have there: lock modem crtscts kdebug passive defaultroute in /etc/ppp/ppp-on and ppp-on-dialer, I have the right phone number to my Isp,my user and passwd are correct.. /etc/ppp/pap-secrets is blank cause as mentionned in PPP How TO, if your Isp prompts you with a text based authentification..it is not using Pap nor Chap..Well, that s not the problem cause even if I correctly set up pap-secrets, the problem is the same!! I even tried more details in options file such as /dev/ttyS3, baud rate and also had a copy in /usr/sbin of ppp-on and ppp-on-dialer, but I really do not get to the net through lynx..ppp..or even a ping of my isp. /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf are having correct entries for my isp also. anyhelp ..since I ve did what I could (the maximum..
