Brian,
I am not sure how to solve your problem, but the staircase
printing is due to the fact that *IX systems use only a 0x0A to represent
a carriage return, whereas DOS, Windows, and OS/2 use a combination of
0x0A and 0x0D to do the same. In such cases, you will get the effect of
the line-feed, but not the carriage return.
While this is not a permanent solution, writing a filter to
replace a 0x0A with a 0x0A + 0x0D combination might get you out of your
present hole.
Regards,
Kenneth
There is no such thing as luck. 'Luck' is nothing but an absence of bad luck.
